Every few years, every few months, there is new group or a set of population that needs to know how to make a start….this article focuses on that set of people, who wish to make a start.
A fitness lifestyle, is a choice. Fitness, is a choice. It requires commitment, hard work and discipline. The benefits of which shall slowly impact all aspects of your life. The results shall come slowly, but shall surely come. The effect of the discipline, the watchful diet and the things you learn in the process, shall have an indelible impact on your life.
Well, you surely have read, heard and know this but still you could not make a start. Ask yourself why?
The step towards fitness is a step towards changing your life, and that is why they say, once you take a step towards fitness, it is a step towards a new life.
In the last few years, FITNESS has become more of a fashion and a some extent even a FAD, where the aim is often not health or professional but maybe just an outlet for socialization or an INSTAGRAM feed set up.
Leave all this, and for one minute ask yourself, why haven’t you started or taken that step? Maybe you did not feel the need, or these are just talks and material for magazines, or even worse, you won’t start till the time there is an alarm bell?
The alarm bell could be a visit to a doctor, a disturbed parameter in the blood test or any other discomfort. But sadly most people don’t realize this, and take the most important entity in life for granted.
Coming back to EXERCISING: You must have read about all the nuances related to exercising, and understood that EXERCISING is not merely a way to lose weight or to get thin/gain muscles. Exercising is a complete therapy, a complete program that must be inculcated in your life. The benefits other than strength building; toning and feeling good are aplenty.
You will reduce stress and tension as well. For many people, exercise is perpetually a low priority,something you only do for a few days at time, here and there. Many people also believe that exercise requires a large daily time commitment, or that it has to be physically difficult and demanding. But the truth is that even small amounts of light activity can make a big difference in your weight-loss efforts.
The truth is that exercise, unlike diet, is something you have to make yourself do. Everybody has to eat every day and the choices of food you make, once you develop an understanding of food, you shall have it as a part of your meals of the day, but you have to purposely set aside time to work out. And it’s VERY EASY to let other things get in the way. As working out shall never be your priority till you make it one,this will be the first thing you chose to ignore or delete from your day to day life, if needed. Again, sadly,though. But there’s a bonus to working out that you won’t notice until you do it. When you exercise,you get more energy. And when you stop (like many do), your energy level starts to drop, so it’s even harder to jump back in. Sticking with it helps, even if that causes scheduling problems in the short term.
There are people who are completely committed to exercise at all costs – this is where we want to get ourselves, and preferably it would be better if we began to love exercise, rather than just feeling that I have to do it. So, for those of us who struggle with flagging motivation, we need to make it a habit. We may find reasons and excuses of job, commitments, responsibilities, stress, and lack of time. But until and unless you tell yourself, that it is as mandatory as eating food, you won’t do it!!
Motivation is important, and being self -motivated is even more important. Remember, everyone who is your motivation and inspiration made a start someday.
“LIFE”will get in the way, but when you embrace fitness as a way of life, you will have a better life!!
Sometimes a new thought or a new idea is all you need to make a lasting change. You can wake up one day and decide to make your entire life change. If you are new to exercise or you dropped it for a while and you want to get back to doing it, the best way to begin is with small steps.
You don’t have to become an athlete overnight. Make a start to make exercise a part of your lifestyle. It’s actually better if you commit to making small changes in your daily routine instead of reinventing yourself overnight, because you are more likely to stick with it. Small changes in habits can lead to lasting, permanent change. Think baby steps and incorporate exercise into your life with these tips.
1. MOVE MORE (move for all your small chores, even if it’s a glass of water).
2. CONSISTENCY is the key
3. Find what you enjoy the most- Bollywood Dance, Zumba, Bhangra or any other aerobic activity.
4. YOGA se hi HOGA. Some breathing exercises are essential for life!!
5. Add strength training to your weekly routine.
In due course of time, EXERCISE WILL DEFINITELY BECOME A WAY OF LIFE for you. You will be inspiring your family members, friends and all you meet and somewhere you will see the difference!
