Polycystic Ovary Syndrome – the most common problem that women are facing nowadays in every age group. There are many reasons for it and it leads to many issues too. But the CATCH here is that the issues and the causes are interdependent. While many may blame that the issues are because of PCOS, the fact is that PCOS is because of those unresolved issues. Especially OBESITY.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a very common condition that affects a woman’s hormonal levels and reproductive system. PCOS can present during the course of a woman’s life from the time they enter puberty through to their post-menopausal years. The syndrome affects all women, regardless of ethnicity or race.

pcos syndrome affects all women

The symptoms of PCOS can include:

● Infertility
● Acne
● Irregular menstrual cycle,or heavy bleeding
● Weight gain
● Insulin resistance
Hair loss
● Excess dark hair
● Headaches
● Ovarian cysts
● Depression

What you must understand is that not every woman will struggle with all the above-mentioned symptoms; each case is unique. Not all women with ovarian cysts have PCOS. This condition is categorized by showing signs of at least two of the symptoms listed above.

Doctors are still unclear as to what causes the syndrome but it has been suggested that family history, obesity, weight, higher levels of inflammation, and insulin resistance may play a part in an increased likelihood of developing the disease.

Polycystic ovary syndrome is when the body creates small sacs filled with fluid that grow inside the ovaries. The word ‘polycystic’ actually means “many cysts.” These sacs contain small follicles that contain eggs. The eggs are considered immature, and interfere with ovulation.

This can lower a woman’s reproductive hormones and subsequently increase androgen. Higher levels of androgen cause the majority of the symptoms and can cause a woman to get fewer menstrual cycles throughout the year.

PCOS does not mean that you will be plagued by illness in the future. Or that the problem will be there forever. It is treatable and can be rectified by lifestyle changes, and medication. However, it’s a wake-up call. You can change the course of your diagnosis by changing your lifestyle habits. You’ll be able to control your symptoms, improve your physical and emotional health, and improve your overall health. This will not only be a physical journey, but an emotional and spiritual adventure.

Here are a few steps that shall help you address PCOS.

Any journey needs a good dose of patience. Like the saying goes: “Rome was not built in a day!” It is fundamental to be kind to yourself as you navigate your way through a new way of eating, dieting, and thinking. Manifest positive thoughts that this is something treatable and that it shall be taken care of in due course of time.

Get the right medication, and even homeopathic medicine can help you much in this. Reach out to friends, family, and loved ones. Join forums online and reach out to local community clinics that may have programs designed to support women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

The most important thing that you can do for your overall health is to start your fitness journey. Obesity or weight issues are the most common reason for PCOS. Try to lose weight, and have a healthy lifestyle.Take a step towards changes in each aspect, about your habits, food choices and be watchful of diet.

Make a note of your lifestyle changes, workout and any activity that shall change your present lifestyle.A plan of action will turn what may seem like the impossible into a very tangible and easy process that will encourage you to develop permanent, healthy habits.

Exercise is another pivotal factor to consider. This will support your weight loss journey and strengthen your muscles and bones. Not only that, it will remarkably improve your mood. Decide, whether you wish to join a gym or start on your home workout. Choose any form of fitness that you like, weight training, aerobics, Zumba, pilates, yoga or any form that you enjoy.

Let’s face it…life can get pretty stressful at times, and we all know how bad stress can be for both the body and mind. De stressing can make a big difference to your outlook, and it will keep you motivated and focused on what does matter in life. Manage your stress and try to do productive things that make you happy.

Read up as much as you about PCOS. Once you know all the ins and outs, you can plan your route of action. From there, you can seek possible treatments, utilize different supplements, and explore other remedies that you may not have known about beforehand.
