CrossFit is gaining a huge fan following in the world of fitness. What attracts people more is not the workout but the heavy advertising with athletes sweating and puking, models with ripped physiques performing exercises like Olympic lifts and shuttle run at the same time. Looking good, fit and muscular is the goal of most of the people, but doing anything to achieve it is not the right way.
When any form of workout deviates from the basic principle of exercise physiology then you need to reconsider the workout. Taking one or two moves from gymnastic does not mean it is a gymnastic based workout. Doing pull-ups on rings does not make it gymnastics. CrossFit has no definition, and the one they claim to have has no meaning. It is one of the most overhyped concepts in the world, being spread by our western counterparts, mainly for profits.
Though over the years, many educated and experienced coaches have joined the CrossFit bandwagon, and help correct and rectify the stupidities, but it’s a long way to go yet.
