Carnitine actually plays a major role in energy production, as it transports long chain fatty acids into the mitochondria of the cell, so that they can be oxidised/burned to produce energy. This statement however, is being highly misunderstood and that’s why L-carnitine supplements are being sold majorly as fat burners.
Please re-read the statement again, as it talks about its role or function of L-Carnitine. It does not mean, taking more will increase the function. This the reason, virtually all major studies do not support the use of L-Carnitine as a fat loss supplement. Even the top governmental bodies have given clear statement against the use of L-Carnitine as a fat loss supplement.
But still, companies are marketing it heavily as a fat loss agent, trying to woo the customer with attractive packaging and heavy marketing.
